ASK DC is an app and website designed to centralize resources for sexual violence in Washington, DC. ASK DC provides immediate, crisis services, such as RAINN’s hotline and chat, local rape crisis centers and domestic violence services, information about the Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) program, Medstar Washington Hosptial Center, transportation to the hospital, options to consider after an incident of sexual assault. In addition, the platform includes a variety of follow up care services available in the city.
ASK DC provides community-specific information, including services serving LGBTQ, Deaf and Hard of Hearing, Multilingual, Elders, Teens and Minors, Military Personnel and College Students.
ASK DC is available in 8 languages: English, Amharic, Chinese, French, Korean, Russian, Spanish and Vietnamese.
The app includes interactive features like a panic button that immediately calls local emergency personnel (911), the ability to alert friends and share GPS location with selected contacts, store emergency medical information, and campus and city resources.
ASK DC was created with support from the DC Mayor’s Office of Victim Services and Justice Grants, and in collaboration with DC service providers.
