  • The Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network (RAINN) operates the National Sexual Assault Hotline which provides free, confidential, anonymous advice 24/7. RAINN also operates the National Sexual Assault Online Hotline, a chat service for survivors of sexual violence. RAINN operates the DoD Safe Helpline online and telephone hotlines for members of the Department of Defense community affected by sexual assault.

DC Victim Hotline

  • The DC Victim Hotline is available for all crime victims in the District of Columbia 24/7 through phone, online chat and text.

    The Victim Assistance Specialists provide information, support and referrals to local organizations and resources in the community such as: 

    • Accessing the crime victim compensation fund 
    • Medical and forensic exams
    • Housing 
    • Legal assistance

DC Rape Crisis Center

  • The DC Rape Crisis Center offers free counseling for survivors and significant others (family, friends, and partners). The DC Rape Crisis Center’s model for counseling is based on the empowerment model, which stresses the inherent wisdom and knowledge of people to heal and direct their own lives. DCRCC’s therapists are helpers, not directors, in the lives of their clients. Sessions are guided by what the survivor wants to do in his or her life.

StrongHearts Native Helpline

  • StrongHearts is a culturally-appropriate, anonymous, confidential service dedicated to serving Native American survivors of domestic violence and concerned family members and friends. Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. CST, callers can connect at no cost one-on-one with knowledgeable StrongHearts advocates who can provide lifesaving tools and immediate support to enable survivors to find safety and live lives free of abuse. Callers after hours will have the option to connect with the National Domestic Violence Hotline, or to call back the next business day.

Love Is Respect

  • Loveisrespect is a 24/7 hotline and online chat specifically designed for teens and young adults experiencing dating violence and their friends and family. The services are free and confidential. Loveisrespect is a project of the National Domestic Violence Hotline and Break the Cycle.

Take Back the Night Legal Advocacy Hotline

  • 567-SHATTER is a national legal hotline for all victims of sexual harassment, assault and rape to learn about their legal options. Take Back The Night Foundation has partnered with a victim advocacy law firm to provide 24-7 staffing of the hotline.  The intake call staff has trauma-informed training to best support victims when they call.  Many of the attorneys supporting this effort are survivors themselves adding to their personal passion to make this resource nationally available at no cost to survivors.
